Belinda cries. Tip it to me. Kim! I'm open! The 1985-86 Lady Cats' Basketball Team was composed of 5 seniors. 1 junior. 2 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. The lady cats posted a 2-18 record. Obviously, this season was very frustrating. “I will compliment the players, howev- er, on their resiliency. The easiest thing to do would have been to quit. A lot of people cannot face up to a challenge as great as the one put before our players. We are changing attitudes and see better results ahead We saw some positive aspects to this year. Certainly there is hope for the future, commented Coach Larimer. With several players returning next year, the Lady Cats are looking forward to improving their record. Many underclass- men had a chance at varsity experience. Therefore, they should be ready for the following year. Coach Phillips felt the team did very well for a young group. They had set a goal to win Conference but were disappointed when Olney beat them as decisively as they did. However, Coach Phillips thinks that sets the stage for a major rematch for the teams. Mark Byars aided the team and honored the school by qualifying for the state meet byjumping SO feet and 9‘4 inches in the long jump. Mr. Phillips stated, Quite an honor coming out of a tough Southern Illinois sectional. One highlight was placing second be- hind O’Fallon at the O’Fallon relays. Anoth- er highlight was a freshman first place finish at the Olney Invitational. 30 Boys' Track
