2 ance Warathon Jash Mt Jong” The annual Dance Marathon was held on March 23 and 24, 1984. It was once again sponsored by the Student Council. The dancers raised $9,927.37, well over their goal of $9,500.00. The proceeds benefitted the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Music videos were provided for the first time. Instead of choosing one Most Spirited Dancer” for the entire 30 hours, the Student Council got together every three hours to pick a “Most Spirited Dancer.” They were awarded one of the “Top 10” albums. Those winning were Brian Evans, Denise Rankin, Belinda Rogers, Michelle Perry, Heather Waters, Jennifer Shook, Troy Brant, Tim Green, Howard Phillips, and Wes Fitzwater. Out of 111 dancers beginning the marathon, 23 completed the 30 hours. Congratulations to all who participated for making the 1984 Dance Marathon such a success. J SpirH-3itU Week The 1984 Homecoming activities sponsored by the Student Council, were considered by many to be the most spirited and successful ever. SCHS students showed their school spirit and support of the Wildcats by dressing up for Blue Day, Bandana Day, Dress-Up Day, and School Colors Day. Thursday night was the annual snake dance, led by the Marching Wildcats, to the bonfire and pep rally where the cheerleaders took over. Approximately 300 people attended the bonfire and heard represen- tatives from all of the fall sports programs. The Wildcats’ appreciation of the student body’s support was shown by the 21-0 victory over the Lawrenceville Indians. The highlight of the evening was Senior Jill Gardner being crowned 1984 Homecoming queen during the half-time celebration. Former Queen Christie Howard prepares to hand over the coveted crown to Jill Gardner. Dr. Raver shows his school spirit during the snake dance. The cheerleaders led the crowd in spirited cheers. The 1984 Homecoming Court poses for photographers during the half-time activities. David Meador plows his way through the opposing lineup. 12 Homecoming
