On April 15, 1984, two busloads of students and chaperones left SCHS enroute to Washington D.C. The group arrived in Washington about 10:00 AM and began their three busy, fun-filled days in our nation’s capital. Led by Harold Anderson, the gorgeous tour guide, they saw such historic sites as the Smithsonian, the Capitol building, the White House, the Supreme Court Building, the Library of Congress, Arlington Cemetery, site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the eternal flame on John F. Kennedy’s grave. In addition the group was taken on a nighttime tour of the memorials that the students truly enjoyed. Leaving Washington D.C. behind, the group went to Williamsburg, Virginia and visited the restored colonial houses and shops. The students and chaperones then began the 18 hour trek back to Salem. When they arrived on April 20, they were all tired, but each one carried memories that will last a lifetime. TOP RIGHT: Juniors are on the streets of Washington D.C.
