The year 1976 marked the 200th birthday of our country, and everyone joined in the celebration. Bicentennial coins, $2 bills, parades, and red, white, and blue were every where. SCHS students had the Spirit of 76 and a great deal of school spirit, also. This enthusiasm led our football Wildcats to a thrilling victory over our arch rivals — the Centralia Orphans. This event will surely stand out in the records for years to come. 1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-1976-19

1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-1975-19 Women seemed to dominate the news in 1975. In September Patty Hears!, 21-year-old newspaper heiress, was apprehended nine- teen months after being kid- napped by Symionese Liberation Army terrorists. Another young women, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, received a sentence of life imprisonment after attempting to assassinate President Ford. And the Equal Rights Ammendment failed to pass despite spirited campaign by many supporters. But women were gaining equality at SCHS. For the first time female athletes received a chance to show their ability on girls' basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. Further traditional roles were broken as students and teachers swapped positions for a day. Seen on the Scene: mood rings, T-shirts, and the layered look.
