Opening Just this once, you will not be hearing me talk about SGA, but I would like to put my two cents in and welcome all of you back to Salem. If your summer has been anything like mine, it definitely went by too quickly ... but once again we are back at school at the start of a new year. And this being my last year, I have come to realize that the time we have together is just too short. Because as seniors . . . SENIORS . . . gosh, that still sounds so strange. I can remember so clearly when I was a freshman sitting down on the front row during an SGA meeting, just listening to the President and thinking to myself that maybe one day — I could even be President of SGA! After all, ALL she had to do was conduct SGA meetings once a month! Boy, did I have a lot to learn. That was three years ago ... the time always seems to go by so quickly . . . but in looking back now, I can see that we really have come a long way. This may sound preachy but I am very sincere when I say take advantage of what Salem has to offer, and appreciate what you have here, because its just too easy to take things for granted. Since Salem is a supportative community, which offers many opportunities for leadership, there is no bet- ter place or time to develop our capabilities and recognize our limitations. The friends you make and the things you experience, you will remember forever, but while you are here, find your niche and take time to become involved . . . drain Salem for everything she ' s worth, so that when the day comes, you will be able to walk away with a feeling of total satisfaction and accomplishment. And remember, the sky ' s the limit. Katie Davis
