E D P. I n M e wn a r E a fn ELIZABETH ORMSBY MEINUNG Mrs. Elizabeth Ormsby Meinung was descended from a well-known Mor- avian family which had been closely associated with Salem College since 1802. She attended Salem College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1917 and was appointed assistant professor of Home Economics at Salem after her graduation. In 1932 Mrs. Meinung earned the degree Master of Arts at Columbia University. She became head of the Home Economics Department at Salem in September, 1936. Mrs. Meinung died unexpectedly on August 29, 1945, in Poughkeepsie, New York. Because of her sincere interest and her professional attainments, Mrs. Meinung was well-known in the field of home economics. She was a member of the North Carolina State Dietetic Association, of which she was at one time president, the North Carolina Home Economics Association, the Ameri- can Dietetic Association, and the American Home Economics Association. It was through Mrs. Meinung ' s efforts that the Salem College Home Eco- nomics department gained national recognition.
