m We walk over the lovely College Campus, where various memorials bear eloquent testimony to the classes that left these reminders of their day, and stand under the shadow of class-trees of bygone years. We enter the extensive pleasure grounds, and stand on Lover ' s Leap — not the Leucadian cape of woe, where burning Sappho loved and sung, and finally cast her- self headlong, but our own Lover ' s Leap, where the unlucky person who falls might get into a crop of stinging nettles, but nothing worse. The grand old tulip poplars, from twelve to eighteen feet across, and several hundred feet high, still murmur in the breeze. The avenue of stately sycamores is feeling the hand of time, and one by one, these splendid old fellows die, and must be removed to make place for a newer generation, a con- stant interchange of death and life; and thus the changing kaleidoscope of life goes on, for us, as for all the world.
