GILBERT KING President STUDENT COUNCIL The Student F ed e ration is comprised of all regularly matriculated students of Salem College andthe Clarksburg Branch. The Student Federation elects its gov erning body, known as the Student Council, in the early spring of each year, thus pro- viding democratic self-government. In its forty-third year the Student Federation Council promotes all phases of college life, out of which grow d es i rab l e stud ent activities. Its president is elected at large from the student body, a secretary-treasurer and a vice- president are chosen from the membership of the council. The purposeof the I.O.C. is to better coordinate the a c t iv i t i e s and improve the communication between the Student Council, clubs, and campus organization. In this capacity it schedules the meet- ing dates and extra curricular activities of individual clubs, promotes campus functions such as Freshman Orientation Week, Playday, Homecoming, and Winter Carnival, maintains the Student Activities Calendar, and helps co-ordinate the intra- mural program.
