FOREWORD The annual statt of l962 presents sil- houettes ot Salem in the hope that we may capture that elusive quality that is the Salem way of lite. Note a few characteristics ot a silhouette that make it applicable to the Salem spirit. A silhouette represents not one girl, but ev- ery girl, revealing, thus, the importance of each individual in the school community. ln that we are unable to discern petty tlaws within it, a silhouette represents Perfection. A silhouette is our ideal, the goal for which we strive. ln academics, in athletics, in every area, let each representative silhouette stand as an example tor us, that we may become ideal Salem Girls.

DEDICATION When we are asked to recall what we best remember about Miss Nunn, some ot us will picture her sitting on the bleachers in the gym cheering the Academy team on to victory. Others will remember math class and Miss Nunn's rules such as Dear Aunt Sally, guaranteed to make any math problem easier. Still others will recall the long hours she spent atter school help- ing girls understand the mysteries ot math. Finally, she will be remembered for her sense ot humor that was manifested in even the most trying situation. All ot these recollections are characteristic ot Miss Nunn, who is an ardent Academy tan, advisor and teacher, and a will- ing participator in every school activity. To Miss Nunn we dedicate the l962 Quill Pen in appreciation ot her taithtul service as advisor and triend to the students ot Salem. 6
