Sophomore Under the leadershup of Actang President Edward Pfau and has assistants Starr Hancock Secretary Esther Barthold Treasurer Sudney Knox Socual Chaur man the Sophornores had a very successful year The Class Advisor was Muss Mary Hammack Page 28 In the fall a party In Turnadges barn was a gala event Games were played some on roller skates and som wrthout followed wlth a wrener roast by the raver Devotions around the campflre was the keynote of the evemng Regular class meetings were held where long range plannlng was done for the comlng events and parties of the Sophomore class On March 3 the Sophomores were guests of the Freshmen at a party In the form of a Carnival Movies were shown and a comedy skit gnven both of whnch were very entertaining and amusing The Hungry Fnve band played several numbers In costume In thelr Immutable manner greatly Increasing their popularity The Barker called out such concessions as fortune telling and fishing for mysterious packages candy and popcorn A wonderful txme was had and wull be talked of for a long time The Sophomores celeb ated Friday May l3 wlth an evemng outing at McMrnnvlIle Park wnth everyone reporting a good time . . , 1 e . . . 1 1 . . . ,, . ,, . . . , . 11 11 - 1 ' 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 I ' 1 I 1 ' p . 11 . 11 -

Fre hmen Bob Anderson, Presldent led the Freshman Class nn a very successful year, alded by hrs assustants Marlene Wolverton, Vlce Presxdent, Donna Dee Hmd man, Secretary Treasurer, Joyce Spullman, Socnal Chaur man The Class Advusor was Mr Robert Huston Page 30 On S ptember 21 the Freshmen entered the halls of Salem Academy unaware of the agony which IS the part of all greenhorns before they are really accepted lt was not until October I5 that they were really accepted at the Freshmen lnltlatlon party glven so wlllrngly by the Sophomores The Freshmen havnng survnved thus testing came forth vvlth real punch rn the form of sponsormg what they termed Ragtime Carnival March 3 to honor the Sophomores There were concessxons and movaes popcorn candy and then bountuful refresh ments were served A hularlous tlme was reported by all even Vernon Isaac the clown In May the class enloyed a trlp to the beach Food was taken along and a day of fun was reported Regular class meetmgs were held throughout the year to dlscuss plans for future actlvutles -.tv ' n .
