SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The class of 1948 of Salamonie Twp. School met for the first time in 1936 with Miss Ruth McCord as our teacher. There were 36 members when we started but as the members have passed in and out we now have 32 members. Our teachers in the grades in- cluded Miss, Madge Waite QZQ, Miss Olive Click Ol, K. P. Wright, MQ, Mr. j. I Hall f5l, and Mr. Harry Collman As we entered the seventh grade we were issued Miss Miriam Redding as our sponsor. We had a lot of fun having parties and shedding our childish ways in the eighth grade. We had class officers too. As we entered our high school life, since there was a majority of girls, we elected all girl officers. Martha Shafer was President with Phyllis Ruble ruling as Vice-President, Monna Boxell kept our notes and Donna Ditzler kept our funds. In our Sophomore year we elected jack Good, Presidentg Clyde Smith, Vice-President, Monna Boxell, Secretary, Marilyn Stump, Treasurer. This year we exploded ourselves by selling more maga- zines than any other class had before us. In our junior year we had thirty-three members. We looked forward to selling at the ball games and noon giving a class play, and selecting class rings. We had a new sponsor Mr. Kitt and elected as our officers Glen Prible, President, jack Good, Vice-Presidentg Monna Boxell, Secretary, and Marilyn Stump, Treasurer. We selected as our first play, Hobgoblin House. We had two class parties. During the year we chose our colors of kelly green and gray, class flower the Talisman Rose and our motto To Be Rather Than Seem To Be. We also put out the first school paper in several years. In September of '48 thirty-three seniors entered the doors for the last time for a whole school year, This year we journeyed to Fort Wayne for our pictures, decided to take a nine day trip, picked our invitations, caps and gowns, sold Christmas cards and gave two class plays. Our first senior class play was For Pete's Sake. It is such a great feeling to be seniors that all members are happy and the class as a whole has a good prospect for the future.
