The 1986-87 Salado Eagle Band saw their hard work pay off. The payoff started with the Eagle Band's first Divi- sion One ever. Several band members tried out for all-region symphonic band and five made the all-region concert band. Stacha Schiller made the all-area band after getting first chair at All- Region. At Solo and Ensemble contest in Temple, 9 solos made First Divisions and went on to state, while two other solos that were not eligible for state also made First Divisions. A clarinet trio and a sax- ophone quartet that were not eligible for state made first, The medium ensem- ble also went to state. Thirty-two of our band members performed in the IA-IIA honor band, held in Mexia. The band ISE IIUQIEIIJ Ufllilliillll LVKUWBGIUIJIJ traveled to Mexia for concert contest on April 25. in l l c gs

After weeks of practice immediately following the cheerleading tryouts, the squad worked hard re-organizing pyramids and cheers after adding a seventh person this year. The squad received three superior ribbons and an ex- cellent ribbon during the NCA summer camp in June, They were also nominated for the Squad of Excellence and were chosen the Super Star Squad. The squad was also awarded a spirit stick for having lots of spirit throughout the week at the NCA summer camp. Although the squad worked many hard and long hours together, the good D H times will never be replaced and the memories will remain for a lifetime. A. Senior Marty jo Cosper participated in her fourth year as Varsity Cheerleader. B. junior Shawn Johnston participated in her third year as Varsity Cheerleader. C. junior Mandi Berry participated in her second year as Varsity Cheerleader. D. 1986-'87 Varsity Cheerleaders: Meredith Brown, Shawn Johnston, Susie Cosper, Melissa Del Toro, Marty Cosper, Loni Culver, Mandi Berry. E. Sophomore Susie Cosper participated in her second year as Varsity Cheerleader. F. Sophomore Meredith Brown participated in her first year as Varsity Cheerleader. G. Sophomore Loni Culver participated in her first year as Varsity Cheerleader. H. Sophomore Melissa Del Toro participated in her first year as Varsity Cheerleader. I.
