• s W-l- 1971 ECHOES VOLUME XVIII SAKS HIGH SCHOOL ANNISTON, ALABAMA FOREWORD The years come and the years go, and the infinite faces that pass through the inveterate halls of Saks High School are memories and history. With every graduation of a class. . . a new class is born. Hence the ever continuance of life, in its ex- istence, is eternal. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. ECCL. 3-1 The year 1970-71 was our year, ourseasonof time, our purpose under Heaven. It termed an auspicious year from the confusing day of registration to the sad, yet happy day of final exams. Love, friendship, dedication, loyalty, devotion, honor, wisdom, and truth are metaphysical words of in- tangible meanings, yet they are the words that define The year that was. The first touchdown, the first superior ratings ever received by the band, the social events, the smiles, the friends, the countless hours of involved study, the pep rallies, and the mixed emotions of graduating seniors ... all form the lives of each student at Saks High School. As the year comes to its finale, and the curtain falls on 1970-71, we the student body look ahead to the ensuing conditions of the future, but the memories of the past shall be cherished and forever en- sconced within us all. Until next year Ave Atque Vale. administration faculty seniors underclassmen EDITORS EDITOR-IN-CHIEF ASSOCIATE EDITOR FACULTY SECTION CLASSES SECTION SPORTS SECTION FEATURES SECTION ORGANIZATIONS BUSINESS SECTION SUBSCRIPTION TYPING Barbara Montgomery Kathy Flournoy Judy Huddleston Sandra Clark Amanda Dennis Susan Triplett Dennis Henderson Denise Williams Pat Davis Camille Box Elizabeth Swinney Diana Thomas features organizations sports DEDICATION To: MR. To you is largely due the credit for a successful, enjoyable, and prof- itable school year. To the annual staff, through your hard work and cooperative efforts you have captured for us something of the spirit of our school and campus life. May these pages serve not only as monument of your contribution, but may they serve also as an inspiration to those who follow. A school is only as good as its faculty and students. Let each of us resolve to make ours tops in its area of service. TA L r? rLs£-4 __ __ • Principal ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL W. E. CONNELL GUIDANCE MRS. We ' ve only begun, Before the rising sun , We fly. So many roads to choose - We start of walking and learn to run , And yes, We ' ve Only Begun. Sharing horizons that are new to us, Watching the signs along the way, Talking it over just the two of us , Working together day-to-day, Together. And, When the evening comes - We smile , . So much, Of life, At hand , We ' ll find a place where there ' s room to grow. And yes, We ' ve Just Begun. Sharing horizons that are new to us , Watching the signs along the way, Talking it over just the two of us , Working together day-to-day, Together , Together.
