The purpose ofthe Latin Club at Aquinas is to encourage among the students an interest in and appreciation of the civilization, literature, and art of ancient Greece and Rome. It is affiliated with the Junior Classical League, a notional organization of Latin Clubs. ln the past, the club has held a Latin Week, including in the program various skits, games, and contests. Several members have attended Latin conventions. The Latin Club is open to anyone M10 is taking on Rome' Latin or has completed his required two years. Mary O'Nell, Allison Scherr, Jane Moanier, and Terry Slruckhofi are representatives ofthe Library Guild. Q' Officers Stephanie Scherr, Mary O'Neil, and Dave Gittemeier read a new acquisition. V Library Guild The Library Guild, whose new moderators Sister M. Ligauri and Sister M. Emmelia took over in Sister Jane Marie's place when she left in January, has eleven members. Each member has a shore in helping keep the library in order. Each has o iob such as typing index cards, putting the shelves in order, checking library books in and out, ahd giving their assistance to students land teachers, toolt seeking certain books, or articles. The Library Guild meets every month.

' xr-I Q a Girls' Athletic Association Now four years old, G.A.A. is an organi- zation open to'all high girls. G.A.A. corqaetes in volleyball toumarnents here at S.T.A. and at other schools. The purposes ot this association are the development ofthe physical, moral, social, and mental individual. 'They practice every Thursday in the gym under the leadership of one of their own members, Mike Fischer. Mr. Burns moderates the club, giving it status as a school-affiliated club. Club members take iudo for the sport of it rather than for any intent to practice it on someone else. However, if danger would arise, the iudo could be put to quick and effective use. Equipment for iudo is not expensive. The club uses the mats in the gym, but provide their own iudo outfits. l

Medical And Future Doctor's Seminar The Medical Seminar meet each week under the supervision of Sister M. Valeria, to keep themselves alert and as fully informed as possible about current science problems and research programs. Bob Gvieshaber, Jerry Funk, Mike Henrlchs, Dave Rodden, 100 Dr. Joseph Efron lectures onthe human anatomy to Florance Brockmeyer, Chris Ruhman, Laura Behrens, and Sue Shriver. President Vernon Buchholz, Vice-President Alan Rui, Secretary Mick DeMella, now replaced by Kathy Loftus, and Treasurer Jana Marifieren make another important discovery. Pat'Pattersan, Mary A. Schleinat, Rosemary Payeur, Sandy Winningham, and Barb Karstedt look aver some research assignments. Mu Alpha Theta The Aquinas Math Club, Mu Alpha Theta, is a chapter of the National Honorary Mathematics Society. Moderated by Sister Anne Agnes, the club meets every three weeks. The Math club is composed of iuniors and seniors interested in math and wishing to further their know- ledge and understanding of it. Topics range from mathematical theory to fun with numbers. The officers are: President Vemon Buchholz, Vice- president Alan Ruf, Secretary Kathy Loftus, and Treasurer Mick DeMelIo.
