Many and profound are the changes which have taken place during the half century which has elapsed since your parish was established. Those changes touch every aspect of our life -- national, state and local. Through all these developments, however, particularly as we have observed persecution of religion in other lands, one thing stands out. It is the wisdom of our fathers in guaranteeing complete freedom of conscience under the Constitution. That is a heritage which we must ever cherish and guard with unceasing vigilance. ?'
