The maTh program has been very exTensive wiTh numerous opTions, such as STaTisTicaI lvleThods oT Research, TaughT by FaTher Brembos on an independenT sTudy basis, where The sTudenTs rely on Themselves To geT work compleTed. There has been a big Turnover in The TacuITy oT The lvlaTh deparTmenT. Taking charge as head OT The deparT- menT is SisTer BernadeTTe. Also included in The change is Mr. Alessi, Mr. Riley and SisTer GraTa. WiTh The way The schedules have been seT up, a sTudenT is able To geT ouTside class- room help and ThereTore meeT The reguiremenTs expecTed oT him in class. Along wiTh The use oT The lVlaTh Resource Room, sTudenTs were able To aTTain a beTTer level oT under- sTanding in The maTh courses. This has enabled The sTudenT To become aware oT The sources oT inTormaTion around him and realize his own poTenTiaIs, needs and abiIiTies.

Language STudenTs Pursue Individual 'l'alenTs lnsTead of expansion, The Lan- guage deparTmenT has focused on improving iTs already well esfablished program. Course offerings have remained The same, excepT a new meThod of insTrucTion, educafion by appoinTmenT, has been infroduced in The German program by Sr. Ancilla. Working aT individual speeds has enabled sTudenTs To gain a wider per- specfive of The German language. Recorded maTerials, including a Talk- ing dicfionary have been made avail- able for over-nighT usage by The Lan- guage Resource Cenfer. A new resource area has been inTroduced To provide equipmenf and a work area To aid Braille sTu- denTs in beTTering Their slcills. Mrs. Raceli has been a maior asseT in The success of This resource area, and was always on hand To aid sTudenTs in any way possible. New addiTions To The Language Teaching sfaff were Miss Fifzgerald in The Spanish program, and Sr. Loyola, who has been insTrucTing all LaTin sTu- denTs including Those of The newly combined LaTin Three and four class. The union of These Two courses has enabled sTudenTs To obfain a Tull scope of The language and culTure. GreaTer aTTenTion has been geared Toward The sTudy of foreign culTures in all The languages.. An OcToberfesT held in early fall pro- vided The opporTuniTy To parTicipaTe in The acTiviTies ThaT are common To our neighbors abroad. DespiTe The facT +ha+ Sr. Clara was unable To organize a Trip To France. Miss Fifzgerald accompanied a group of sTudenTs To Mexico, where They came in direcT conTacT wiTh The people and Their cusfoms. cusToms. Besides learning To speak in a for- eign Tongue, sTudenTs have had The opporTuniTies To become a parT of a foreign culTure.
