A 46 Murray . . . , 33 . . . 36 ' . . . , 40 ll A H, 7 3 -M SEBA Varsity lnconslstent Baseball prospects at the Academy were not very bright at any time this year We had seven lettermen back from the year before but there were at first some holes to be filled On account of Mayor Gervais tragic death Mr Read had to take over the coaching at a moments notice The outfield was the strong point of the team The starting trio contained Larry Schlick Dick Harris and Captain Bill Rumble who was con verted from catcher to allow a football uniury to heal The outfield made up most of the hitting strength of the team and except for lnlured Rumble were quite strong of orm Johnny McKay the fleet footed letterman was the out field reserve man so there was no lack of talent In the outer gardens The infield was one of the big question marks this year and furnished the fans with a few surprises Strong and Hoshour played first base with great skill with Hoshour coming over from third when Strong pitched Second base was filled as expected by the capable letterman Tim Scott Bob FltzGerald came up from o where to surprise everyone with his skill at the shortstop position The third sack was flooded with stars When Strong pitched Tom Frenzel took over third base Otherwise Hoshour came over from first base to be the Spider Jorgenson of S P A Both these boys showed amazing field ing and throwing ability Harry Dilworth a hard worker with a good arm was to be the catcher this year but he went out with an inlury early were the men who took his place The pitching on the team was good though the won lost record does not show It Tom Frenzel showed plenty of good hurling as did Lefty Jim Stronge also Bacon developed as a relief mon Taking the team as a whole we can say that the hitting was weak the fielding fair and the patching good Top Row Mr Read, 5Cl'llICk, Ordway, Paper, Harris, V Hauser, Bacon, J Bell, Schlenk Bottom Row J Towle, T Frenzel, Stronge, Rumble, Hoshour, FitzGerald, E Scott Page seventy six I I I I I . , . . . , , . . . . , . . .
