St. Michael's Alumni was reorganized. under the direction of Rev.'Harold Poletti, CLP., on January 31, I9-16. This was the Hrst meeting held since May 2-l-, 19-13, when the Alumni was discontinued due to the draft. The oilicers at the time of the reorganiza- tion were: president, Alfred Dieterle, Jr. '40g vice-president, Gertrude Schmitt '38, SCCt'Cta1'y, Cleopha Froelich '39, treasurer, Bernard Novak 42. They have successl'ul1y undertaken numerous activities during the past year. The monthly meetings held the third Friday of each month have been well attended. A hay ride and dance was the special feature of the Thanksgiving holidays, lol- lowed by a Christmas Party. December 20, at which the Senior Class were guests. Santa Claus was also present, impersonated by -lack DuSchied. At this meeting, the above picture for the annual was taken. The mem- bers who were able to get through the sleet and snow were the only ones present for the picture. The fund for THE Mtci-lat-it.tN1,xN was swelled to unprecedented heights by a gen- erous donation from the Alumni. The new ollicers for the year l94'7 are: president, YK-'erncrt Pitterich vice-presi- dent, Mercedes Anirhein 'sl l: 2nd vice-presi- dent, Walter lfVichmanowski '42: secretary, Cleopha Froelich '39, and treasurer, Bern- ard Novak '42. It is the ambition and hope of the Alum- tai to establish a scholarship for a four year course which will be available to the top- ranking graduate. They also wish to make a substantial contribution I'or the Home Economics Department recently established at S.M.H.S. There is no activity ol' the school that is not enthusiastically supported by the Alum- ni. lt is the praise-worthy custom of the Alumni to escort the graduates to Church each year for their commencement exercises. It is their hope that the present and future graduates of St. Michael's will keep up this grand tradition.
