Perhaps the record books cannot show a victory foi every gameg nevertheless. the success attained by St Joseph's can only be enjoyed by the team and their faith ful followers, since this success goes to making a Ent athlete and a true fan. We place our hope with Coach Nick Jacobs who sin- cerely believes that after a lapse from the State Champion ship for a few years. this season will mark the beginning of the long and hard road back to supremacy in thc scholastic basketball world. 'l'o all the players we must say we were behind you cotnpletely. ln every victory. we were joyous with you With every defeat. we were saddened. too. XVe can best express our feelingbysaying tlianks for a swell coach in Nick. and a swell team in our Flying Dulchmenf' CHEERLEADERS Robert l.itlel. .Xllan Quiring. Norman llradel. Edwin lirueggman. Come on Red. Come on Blue. Come on St. Joe's pull us through. This is one of the many cheers that these active cheerleaders used. to pull our team through the games. Basic morale builders for the team. they cheerel for both victories and defeats. JUNIOR VARSITY Under the capable coaching of Rob fWushtyJ 'l'uskin. former varsity star. St. Joseph's J.V. gave us a preview of what to expect in varsity play in two or three years. The opening whistle saw Edgar Lutz, Johnnie Rosa, .Xrt Herrlich, Don Devers, and Jeep Holler in the start- ing lineup for the Red and Blue. with Joey Hirtz occa- sionally lilling the role of starter. John Deemer, John Patrick. and the Fracek brothers. Len and Ray, saw con- siderable action, Lou Bott and Harry Loveland. hold-overs from last year's team. were also consistent performers. Bill lfehriens. Santo Battaglia. and Ferdinand Koenig profited greatly by their experiences on the J.V. The Junior Varsity team is one of which to be proud, because of its splendid showing against all opposition. St. Josephs can now look forward to future varsity teams of championship caliber. 1 'Mwwyg A quam!! nh 5 ,walt if 3 3 f 2 , my ., A M M. Eff + 4 iw a 5' m ii H i ,NB H i ,. g5..g 1? X Q K f H 1?
