Within its wall we found disappoint- ments and hardships as well as happiness and success. For some, the doors will soon close behind four years of study and good times. Our world is us. We criticize it, defend it, love it. It revolves around us. Lindenwood Col- lege for Women was founded in 1827, and Lindenwood College ll was estab- lished in 1969. In keeping with the Lindenwood com- mitment to provide an education sig- nificant to students who live part of their lives in the twenty-first century, most classwork will be in common. Organized student activity outside the classroom, student advising, student academic requirements, are delib- erately separate in cases where sepa- ration serves the objectives of the stu- dent or the student organization. Lindenwood College for Women will continue its concern for the role of women in our society, and its educa- tional program and student life plan- ning will reflect that concern. Linden- wood II will begin as a college for men and, in addition to providing full academic program in the liberal arts in cooperation with the women's col- lege, will develop special programs and seek fresh educational approaches responsive to the needs and oppor- tunities of this age. Thus The Lindenwood Colleges, in cooperation and yet separately, will build their programs taking account of the individuality of their students in every way that is important to their intellectual and cultural development.
