Robert Louis Stevenson's TREAS- URE ISLAND enters one's thoughts when considering the term PIRATES. As students, I hope that your treasures lie buried in good books, in searching for truth, in following precepts and examples of teachers, and by exercising good conscientious effort to recognize and solve your problems. Follow- ing this program will result in rich rewards and fond memories which will remain with you for many years. Roy L. Clemons A pirate, according to the lexicons, is one who is guilty of piracy. Guilty, did we say? Does the ancient use of this term evoke from us a c0ntinued admis- sion of our guilt? Indeed, to the con- trary, for fortunately the art of lan- guage has a happy way of adjusting it- self to new associations and to new mean- ings. So we in our student life now think of a pirate as one who draws from every possible opportunity, the potentials of success and achievement.
