He finds a challenge in their optimism and dependability. The higgest diffi- culty is awakening the students to the opportunities and training their high school offers them and the importance of their school records. Nlr. Burgers devotion to edu- cation and his interest in students make him eager to provide them with the best possible school situ- ation. If the students extend themselves. they should be well equipped for the future in which they will play an important role. S4 Junior High Principal MR. RALPH BLACK Seeing the growth and development of the personalities of students through junior and senior high school and their successes achieved later on in life con- stitutes one of the deep satisfactions of Mr. Black's work. Most discouraging is the indifference of a few students to help offered them throughout the years. Freshmen coming from St. Charles Junior High School un- der the competent leadership of Mr. Black should be well prepared to meet the challenges of high school and later life.

MR. STEPHEN BLACKHURST Assistant Superintendent Mr. Roy Clemons is beginning his second year as Administrative Assistant to Superintendent Blackhurst. Before this, he served as the principal of the St. Charles Junior High School. He obtained his B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri College and his Nl.A. degree from Washington Uni- versity. Mr. and Mrs. Clemons have two sons, Kenny and Linn. They reside at 146 College Drive. Our Superintendent For thirty-three years Mr. Blackhurst has been our superintendent. In this capacity he has assisted in the employ- ment of teachers and provided for the organization and administration of the courses of study for the school system. Among the schools he has attended are the University of Missouri. Denver University. Chicago University. and Washington Liniversity. MR. ROY L. CLEMONS

avf ' 4 MMA Vice-President KENNETH DELIVIAIN Last spring, after a week of cam- paigning, Kenneth Delmain was elected to be vice-president of the SCHS stu- dent body. His personality, wit, and ability have made him well-liked and respected by students. Ken is a mem- ber of the student council and assists the president in handling his respon- slbilities. Student Body President DAVID caosxizmxx David Groenemann was elected by the student body to preside over their student council and carry out the duties of the student body president. He has been recognized as a leader since his freshman year when he was vice-president of his class. When David was a sophomore. he was president of the class. His junior year he was chosen by the faculty to represent St. Charles at Missouri Boys, State.
