It seems appropriate that MUSIC, which in recent years has made so decisive an impact upon student life and ac- tivity, should have become the theme of this yearbook. ln- deed this circumstance does provide an inviting pretext to refer to that dominant seventh chord, which has first significance in its application to the field of music, but which in a figurative sense might well be proiected into broader fields. As all of us know, the dominant seventh chord contains dissonances which demand a restful resolution, else one's musical self is left unpoised and unsatisfied. So in life-There must necessarily come those dominant sevenths, or those dissonances which must be happily re- solved if Iife's final satisfactions are to be realized. If that be true we like to hope that during your high school years you have fortified yourselves with a sense of self direction and a spiritual discernment that will impel your dominant sevenths to happy and meaningful resolu MR BLACKHURST tions Mr Blackhurst Perfect harmony in a school system as large as ours is an ideal we can never expect to attain Harmony means agreement of feeling ideas actions and getting along well together In the band or orchestra it may be simple to correct the discord but In our school our responsibility as students and teachers is to help each Individual grow and develop into a useful and responsible citizen of our great nation We cannot expect the same degree of growth and accomplishment for each student experiencing the privilege of our school program We expect each to realize that learning is a life long process and we as teachers hope that we have given the greatest gift a teacher can bestow an awakening of a passion of learning Mr Burger MR BURGER A beautiful melody may give an enloyment richer and richer through all the years of a persons life Added to these is the blending of different tones and of different tone colors of voices or instruments in harmonies that are often like the colors on sunset clouds You the youth of our school with your variety of personalities ambitions and moods are comparable to the great symphonic works of the masters colorful dynamic never ending Clemons CLEMONS
