gfmffh ds Qyeafflz J'- One, Two, Three, Four Miss Elizabeth Wingerter's visits to our academy every Friday have been interesting and most enjoyable. Besides the usual body-building activities there were fascinating games. In pleasant weather we went outdoorsg when it rained there was always the social room. The weekly period was looked forward to by all: it was a chance to use pent-up energy. YVe give to cur successors this privilege of much fun, and the wonderful sensation of relax- ation for those few moments. 0hl llello, Nlrs, Sayles

Say your prayers, sister' 'l'Hlf CURTAIN FALLS liver since we were freshmen, the class of 45 has been looking forward to the time when they would present their Senior Class Play. After three year's preparation, we were ready for that momentous occasion. However, there is more to presenting a successful play than appears on the surface. Since the class itself is fairly large, and the presentation of the senior play is such a tremendous piece of work, two casts were chosen. Kiffie gram s Xlany other difficulties had to be ironed out. Nliss Vllingerter, our very capable dramatic teacher, being familiar with some of these diffi- culties soon had things straightened out to the satisfaction of all. After much practice, studying of lines, and plenty of hard work, the girls seemed ready to decide upon the nights the play would run. Having considered many suggestions, the faculty finally settled that the play should run three night performances. 'lihese three nights were looked forward to with great anticipation by all the girls. What a thrill it was to hear the appreciative applause of the audience, to hear their joyous laughter which told us that the per- formance was a source of enjoyment for people with heavy hearts in these troubled times. Yes, this applause also gave us the answer we Wanted to hear ,our three act comedy, Tilly From Texas , was a great success. One cast of the Senior Class Play, Tilly From Texas

ACTIVE IN DEBATING FIELD During the past four years the debating club at S. B. A. has grown both in enthusiasm and popularity. It has developed in the students an interest in public speaking, and given them an oppor- tunity to meet and express themselves in friendly competition with friendly competitors. The debating team has conquered and has been conquered in many bouts, but has always risen with renewed courage and determination. Interest in debating and public speaking developed through the unceasing efforts of Sister M. Perpetua and a small group of girls. Ifach year the club and also the team has grown in mem- bership and reputation. At the present time S. B. A. is listed among the top schools in the debating held. For three consecutive years S. B. A. has tied for second place in the North Side Catholic Section. The debating team has also met a number of schools in other sections of the city. 'lihe debaters attended the annual debating clinics sponsored by the debating team of Mount Mercy College. 'lihey entered the discussion groups and also took part in a series ol' practice debates at the University of Pittsburgh. From these experiences the girls derived both confidence and encouragement. 24
