Many people are too absorbed with the luxuries of life to think of the Supreme Being to which they owe all their vanities and pleasures. XVith a cynical smile, the politicians place God's name on the coins of the land while that same Name is erased from the text books of our schools. The Catholic Faith which came to this country needs a resurgence during these turbulent times more than ever before. just as every army has its generals, captains, and ollicers who lead their men in the ranks and who map the campaign, we, too, must lead an army on its knees beseeching God's help. Following that love which we owe to God and family, there is no nobler love. no more inspiring. more uplifting love than that of country. Iiwiediclirzrf Life, dramatized during Vocation XVeek portrayed us in a serious yet happy and contented mood. Best of all was our participation in the senior oper- etta, The Beauty Conlrfst. NVQ sang and danced with the class of '41, Thus our freshman year came to an exciting end. The Image, B1I7'fl'lf Trffaszzrff, and The New Cook, three one-act plays, was our second step in tl1e field of dramatics. Miss Xtlingerter, ever eager to improve our dramatic ability, directed and gave us the hrst thrill of how it feels to lie mature women. XVith this new experience we determined to make improvement and confidence our goal in dramatics for the following years. Improve we did, for in our junior year we dramatiled our first three-act play, A SOIlf,l!fTll Cind1'rr'lIa. ln formal gowns we Haunted our enthusiasm before our audience. A group of choral speakers added just the right touch. Wlhen Book X'Veek rolled around, our girls impersonated Julius Caesar, Tom Sawyer, Little Xvomen, Father Chisholm, Maria and the Mother Superior, characters from world-known classics and the Keys of the Kingdom. Eager to make our little sisters, the freshmen, feel at home, we set ourselves to the task of presenting our first dramatic composition, The Fasllion Parrlde, for their entertainment. The climax of our dramatic ability, however, was our senior operetta, The Wild Rose. lt proved to be the most colorful, the best loved, and the perfect play given by the class of '44 during the years spent at S.B.A. To Miss Wingerter the girls will always be grateful. It is to her we owe our appreciation for good, wholesome, humorous drama. The curtain has dropped on our dramatic career, but the memories of happy, carefree days, memorizing lines, and practice, practice, practice shall never fade from our minds. N f 1 f .v'- .
