Juniors Win Snow Daze Competition 1983 Snow Daze Royalty from the Junior Class. Paul Meier and Judy Johnson. Breaking a three-year tradition, the Juniors won Snow Daze 83. The class took first by winning top place in Boys’ and Girls’ Broomball, Attendance Count, the skit, and the Battle Cry. They also placed second in Dress-Up Day. Pom Pon Attendance, and the Sign Contest. Seniors earned 1st place in Dress-Up Pom Pon Attendance. Sophomores won first place in the Sign Contest. National Affairs Day: April 27 The Social Studies Department sponsored a National Affairs Day at VHS on April 27. Purpose was to inform students, staff, and comnvinity residents on issues related to the nuclear arms race. Titled the Nuclear Arms Race: Day of Dialogue, the program featured experts in nuclear weapons systems and international relations, M.D.’s, clergy, sociologists, and citizen activists. The girls’ Swimming Team finished the season 4th in duals meets. 2nd in Region 9, and 3rd in the State Meet with 103 points. Coach Berg commented: This was the best season we have ever had.
