Monday's competition event for Snow Daze, was won by the Seniors. In Snow Daze Competition Master of Ceremonies Matt Wente presents Jeff Baustert with the Mr. Legs trophy. Senior representatives Lisa Juricko and Mark Bratland were crowned 1980 Snow Daze royalty because their class had won first place in four competitions: girls' broomball. ice cream eating contest, the Pep Fest sign, and the skit competition. Fugere, G. Miller. One-Act Play Places Third That's why I had to become just like you! The Stronger. a serious matrimonial monologue, was the VHS one-act play entry in the district contest on January 19. Directed by Mr. Fritz, the play won third place. Participants were Tina Karelson as Mrs. X, Liz Weylmann as Amelie. and Peter Fischer as the Waiter. Mrs. X meets Amelie and learns that Amelie and Mr. X had an affair some time ago. At the end of the discussion. Mrs. X walks out the stronger, and Amelie breaks down. Bands Celebrate Spring Fling Alan. Sue. Dave, and Lisa smile self consciously while listening to Mike. Debbie. Missing Link Missed By Many Once again the VHS Drama Department produced a spring play, and, once again few people came to see it. which was a shame because once again it was a very fine performance. This year's production was a romantic comedy, The Missing Link. Somehow, the plot flowed from a 47-yr. old bride’s impending wedding to some mysterious dog tags to cannibalism . .. The Prom Committee consisted of Marjorie Holsten, Dave Johnsen. Corrine Dahlman, and Sharon Stone. Money for the Prom was earned by raking leaves, selling candy sticks, and sponsoring Flower Day. Mr. Sandberg helped as Prom advisor. The Jazz Band and Miller's In the Mood. The Jazz Band again with Penny 6-5000. Bands Celebrate Jazz Pops ’80” Wooden soldiers ... Marionettes ... Charleston Dancers ... Ragtime Band ... Dixieland Band ... and even the Muppets joined with Mr. Bjorklund and the Concert Band to put together the 18th Annual Band Pop Concert - Jazz Pops ’80.” With selections from Glen Miller — to Scott Joplin — to George Gershwin (with a Horn Concerto thrown in), the Band covered a wide spectrum of music to make a very enjoyable evening. Show Tunes: Salute To The 10’$” Directed by Mr. Opsata, the VHS Concert Choir presented Show Tunes May 22. The Concert Choir, the Pop Singers, and various soloists presented over 20 top hits in their Salute to the Seventies. Some well-received songs were Everything Is Beautiful. Jamie Krieger (in humorous competition) and Laura Subak (in dramatic reading) won the right to attend the National Forensic League tournament in Huntsville, Alabama in June.
