Remember how we laughed away the hours and dreamed of all the great things we would do? ... 4 THOSE WERE THE DAYS Words and Music by Gene Raskin TRO — Copyright 1962 and 1968 ESSEX MUSIC, INC., New York, N.Y. Used by permission Just tonight I stood before the tavern. Nothing seemed the way it used to be. In the glass I saw a strange reflection. Was that lonely fellow really me? 5 7 Board Studies Declining Enrollment District 282 School Board. Bottom Row: Chairman Lowell Thompson. Vice-Chairman Kathy Hoff. Student Representative Michele Wallace. Top Row: Clerk Orville Bratland, Superintendent Leland Renz. Director Richard Stebbins, Director David Bordwell. Absent: Peter Cartwright, Treasurer. The top concern of this year’s School Board, according to Student Representative Michele Wallace, is “to set long range planning goals to cope with our declining enrollment. Included are things like program evaluation and individualization of instruction.” Another area of concern, according to Michele, is a chemical dependancy program to be initiated soon. Still another goal being worked on is community involvement ... “My position (student rep) is extremely important to me,” stated Michele. “I have two main goals as representative. The first is to provide for more effective communication between the Board and students. Through the newspaper and through Student Council, I hope the students know more about the School Board. In voicing my opinions or by working on committees of the School Board, I hope I am giving them information about students ... My second goal is to give all students a chance to have an effect on decisions which directly pertain to our educational process ... ” Superintendent Renz Principals: “Hail To The Chief(s) Mr. A1 Rosinski, St. Anthony Village High School Principal Mr. Rosinski’s goals for the year are ... long range planning for the years of declining enrollment ahead ... new legislation involving PER (Planning, Evaluating, Reporting) ... a chemical dependency program for the school district (some staff were involved in a workshop with Metro Drug Awareness) ... developing a case manager-advocate system for the students at VHS ... continue working with the Jr. High Committee on Affective Education ... Mr. McCutchan’s goals for the year are realistically dealing with the problems of chemical illness and with the pollution of our school by smokers.
