. 5-A . t X cp' U V, M r-er 'K Ni, E F EULTY St. Anthony, Teacher A deep knowledge and love of God, a sympathetic understanding of human nature, a wealth of common sense, and a tactful dispo- sition-these gifts enabled St. Anthony to become a model teacher and a man of Christ. Natural and supernatural knowledge received through the power of prayer made him a masterpiece of wisdom and prudence. He concealed his brilliance until obedience com- manded him to speak. With profound erudition and clarity of eX- pression, he denounced the acute and unscrupulous minds that were spreading moral relaxation and disorder. In the Thirteenth Cen- tury, he acted as a beacon of light amidst the darkness of the A1- bigensian and Waldensian heresies. Through his teachings inspired by the Spirit of God, Anthony hammered the heretics into sub- mission. St. Anthony of Padua, Hammer of the Hereticsf' taught the triumph of Christ's power in the fight against error and sin. 7
