'MY l9-16 - The interested group shown below formed the flrst St. Anthony Band to play at a football game. 949 The fnrst unuformed band from St Anthony s and the furst to represent the school un a pa rode marched In the All Western Band Revue on November 26 VARSITY BA U m nt classes began un May I949 and contunued durlng the summer months under the tutelage of Mr Seutzunger and Mr Olnvadotn When school started an the Fall the Band was ready and the members were outfutted In snappy royal blue and grey unuforms The new group played for every football game on the Varsnty schedule and executed brnlluant half tame formatlons for the two funal games of the season The basketball games were also enluvened by peppy marches and school songs On November 26 the Band marched for the flrst time taking part In the annual All Western Band Revue nn down town Long Beach Plctures of the Band s actnvrtues In the muslcal Comedy Stars Over Hollycrest may be seen nn another part of thus yearbook 103 6, I ... ,lf Y - 1 ' A The St. Anthony Varsity Band was organized by Brother Genard, C.S.C., almost overnight , Beginners' instru- e ' A ' .
