THE FOOTBALL SQUAD TOP BOW Charles Barry Gene Barnett Iames Keattng Ioe Korkames luntor Mansour Frank Benfro Gregory Meyers and Iohn Mason Sm1th MIDDLE ROW Iohnson Crandall Sonny Constanttno George Lux Albert Korkamus lohnny Wrlson Charles Porter Boy Upchurch FRONT BOW Bob Corrotto Dtck Haaser lack Brun Late Hutcheson Harry Smets Herman Henry and lack Haaser Irrnrny Grtfttn and Ioe Smreker were absent when ptcture was made The 194041 Season was a banner one for the football team of St Annes The team popularly known as the St Annes Buffs opened the season wlth a 7 to O v1ctory over the Van Buren Reserves lt was a hard fought game and though no stars were among the Buffs the teamwork was perfect The second game on the seasons schedule was the Greenwood Bulldogs an exceptlonally Th score was St Annes 24 Greenwood U The thrrd game brought a drsappomtment to both the players and the students because of an expected vtctory Mansfteld lagged behind tn the fxrst half but started an aertal attack IH the last p9f1Od of the game Whlch brought them a 25 20 VICKJIY After the Mansfreld game the Buffs were determmed to do or d1e and so defeated Splro whtch had one of the best teams tt has had tn several years But the Buffaloes came out on top wtnnmg 13 to O Texarkana belng next on schedule was met wtth strff opposmon from the Buffs who emerged wtth the vrctory The outstandtng players were Haaser Corrotto and Sm1th the score was 15 to 6 St Annes Buffaloes made a record of runmng up the htghest score ever made at Grrzzly Stad1um when the crushed Keota 86 to O Every player drd hrs part and the teamwork made every play cltclc The next game was a tangle wtth Hartford who as predlcted would hand us a defeat But the Buffs had dtfferent tdeas and handed the Hustlers the small end of the score 20 to 7 The fmal game of the season was played at Muskogee Oklahoma agamst the St Ioseph oardtnals an old rtval whrch had beaten S A A for the last four years But agarn determmahon and courage won the ball game for the Buffs 13 to 9 The only casualt1es of the year were a broken wnst for lody Smreker tackle an m1ured ankle for Drck Haaser quarterback and an rmured nose for Iames Keatmg center We extend our stncerest thanks and apprectatton to Coach Ioe Carroll who gave h1s undwxded attentton to mstructmg the boys ln playmg football th proper way We also extend thanks to Assrstant Coach Leo Corrotto who gave h1s ttme and attentxon to the team Irene Hammer Thtrty Ftve S23 l- D . , W L 5 A - wg' .hw ,N . . . , strong team.
