After much anticipation and planning for Newman College Cthe name that the new college was to obtainj, the merger remains for many a dream that practically touched the surface of reality. ln September of 1973, St. Ambrose will experience a rebirth. And with this revitalization, efforts will be made to secure the future of St. Ambrose. Hope will be that this institution of higher learning will be not be hit by a trend that is literally closing the doors on small private colleges. Recruiting techniques will be revamped, a new administration will take office, and St. Ambrose College will continue its purpose of educating young people as Bishop John Mc- Mullen began over ninety years ago. LEFT: The Chapel of Christ the King was completed in the fall of 1953 to serve the Christian community. Adjacent to the chapel is Hayes Hall, which serves as residence for seminarians and also classroom space. LOWER LEFT: The barracks became the home of Navy families duringthe 4O's. BELOW: The west end of Ambrose Hall. Ambrose Hall once housed the entire College. Today it includes classrooms, offices, the union, recreation facilities, and the campus pub.
