O'Keefe celebrated his Sil- ver jubilee along with four other priests in this diocese. Of these four priests marking their twenty-fifth year of service will be two members of our priest-faculty staff at St. Ambrose Col- lege. The OAKS takes this opportunity to extend it's accolade to the Rev. Charles C. Shepler, head of our Speech Dep't. and to the Rev. John J. Dunne, Language professor in Span- ish. Reverend Frederick Joseph McMahan has served St. Ambrose College for many years. Fa- ther graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1935. He began his long career of service at St. Am- brose in 1940 when he was a high school teacher and assistant principal at the Academy. In 1951 he became a faculty member of the college. Fa- ther McMahan was chairman of the Education Department from 1954 until 1963. He has also served as Acting President and Vice-President of the college. Currently Father McMahan is Director of the Testing Program and the Academic Dean of St. Ambrose. --Father meets this difficult. job by up- holding the academic standards of this college, yet he never fails to realize the individual per- sonalities ofthe students. lt is because of his ability to balance the two factors in his present position as Academic Dean and because of his previous years of contribution to the St. Ambrose College Community, that we dedicate the Oaks '69 to Father Frederick McMa- han and hope to see future years of his outstand- ing and devoted service.
