D R A G 0 N 1 A N Page Thirteen SENIOR CLASS THOMAS WHEATLEY The boy wlth a head of a gemus Student Councu 35 Sec etary 38 Honor Soc1ety 37 38 President of Freshman class 35 Vice President of Junio Class 37 President of Seniol Class 38 Latin Club 38 Playmakers Club 37 38 State Orches txa 3.1 36 37 38 Apollo Club 35 36 Big Broadcast 35 State Band lestival 36 37 38 Science Club 35 35 The Whole Towns Talk 38 Aunt Abby Answers an Ad 37 Murder ln Rehear scl 8 Winner ln County Band Festival 38 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September 11 1934 120 freshmen en tered hlgh school from varlous graded schools The f1rst class meetmg was held ln Mr A1 ford s home room for the electlon of class of ficers Officers elected at this meeting were Pres Thomas Holley secretary Ella Stanley and treasurer George Curnes These freshmen got out of the usual cus tom of being 1n1t1ated because It had been abandoned by th1S tlme The year turned out to be a very successful one It ended ln a farewell hike to Shady Side Beach The advisors for the freshmen year were Mr Watrlng MISS Cowl and Mr Wllhide A large maJor1ty of thls class returned September 5 1935 as sophomores September 11 a class meetmg was held and officers wele agaln elected Those elected were Piesldent Henry Murray v1cepres1 dent Herman Stevens and secretary treas urer Ella Stanley Those on the student councll for that year were Henry Murray Marie Goodall Cot trel and Pearl Colllns MISS Barker Mr Burdette and Miss Moore were the class ad VISOIS In thelr Junlor year of 1936 37 they put forth thelr best effort in order to obtain money for the Jumor semor receptlon, wh1ch was held May 15 Officers for the Junlor year were Presi dent Henry Murray VICE presldent Thomas Wheatley secretary treasurer Ella Stanley November 6 the class presented a play Aunt Abbie Answers an Ad Adelyn Dod son who played the role of Aunt Abble had thelr play Dur1ng the year the Juniors sponsored a moving picture and sold candy 1n the halls to help make money for tne reception A meeting was held at the end of school to elect oIf1cer for the following year Those elected were Presldent Thomas Wheatley vice president Davld Hugart secretary Ella Stanley and treasurer Henry Murray lhe advlsors for their Junlor year were Mrs Prlde flater on MISS Selbej Mrs Chaplin and MISS Klng On September 7 1937 the students who had once been freshmen of not so long ago returned to school for the last tune as sen lors 'Ihe advisors for thls year were Miss Moore and Mr Gleason A party was held November 19 1n the gym naslum Th1s was the only act1v1ty that they had this year March 22 a class meeting was held to alscuss what to do Wlth the money they had on hands It was later declded to buy lockers for the Held house and a flag for the football field ings, , 5 .. , 5 .. . - .
