The Mustang Varsity Basketball Team ended the season with a respectable 4-18 record. The sea- son on the whole was made up of various high points and low points. The team stuck with it all the way, and should be commended for their fine efforts. With David Lorentz and Les Harris the only two returning Iettermen, Coach Wieburg will have a good founda- tion with which to build a program on. The Mustang cagers showed every team that they played that they are a team to be reckoned with in the future. The team also proved that the basketball program at Sahuarita is on the way up. J.V. Basketball lVlr. Jones took over the Junior Varsity coaching job this year, and it's obvious that the members of the J.V. team profited from his basketball experience. The Junior Varsity finished the season with a re-I spectable and hard fought for 8 win-10 loss record, which is one of the more im- pressive Junior Varsity records in recent times here at Sahuarita. With four of the five starting players on the J.V. team in their Junior year, Head Coach Wieburg should find next year's Varsity team more than anxious to continue their winning ways . A good strong basketball program must be built from the ground up, thus a strong, fundamentally sound Junior Varsity is a must if Sahuarita is to become a legitimate contender in the years to come . And fin- ishing the season with an 8 win-10 loss record is a fine start toward that goal.
