Counselors Inspire Students In the office, down a tiny hall, in seven little rooms, you'll find the Seven Wonders of Saguaro: the coun- selors. What's so wonderous about these masterminds? Well, with the problems of 350 students on their shoulders they couldn't possibly be known as anything less than a wonder. These problems range from scholastic, such as college applications, grade averages, and schedule changes, to personal, such as teenage pregnancy, alcholism and child abuse. According to Mr. Fred Mueller, head counselor, divorced parents are the most serious of all personal problems. I would like to keep all parents together, said Mr. Mueller. Even though his wish could not be com- pletely obtained there was a spark of hope in his voice when he spoke of the Group of Divorced Parents, an organi- zation designed by counselor Adrianne Selbest. Mr. Mueller also said it would be a good improvement to have the counselors remain available during the summer. Some of the improvements made this year include the job placement survey, the career center, and the time saved by talking to the freshmen and sopho- mores as one group instead of two.

English: Qpportunity to Display Creativity The usual work of writing essays, learning new vocabulary, and prepar- ing research papers, was typical for all students taking required English courses. Students also had to keep up with the school district policy of writing eight themes per semester which came into effect last year. Besides the usual English school work of reading and writing, English classes were entertained by the small preview performances of Shake- speare's Romeo andjuliet presented in the school auditorium by the Actors Lab of Arizona. During the months of September and October, students had the chance to see the full performance of the play presented by The Old Globe Theatre plus two others: Loves Labours Lost and Two Gentle- nlren of Verona. All three plays were performed at the Scottsdale Center for t e Arts. Iulie Berkel Maureen Clayton English III English IB If J Ian F01-tsch Mary Hewett English IIIB English IVA
