The Walter C. Averill Career Opportunity Center, better known as the COC, added six new classes this year to go along with the many vocational skill areas it already of- fered. Among some of these classes were Aeronautics, Travel Industry Assistant, Used Car Contitioning, Motor Cycle Repair, Automobile Interiors and Radio Television. Students from Saginaw High rode buses twice a day to attend classes in the center either in the morning or in the afternoon. The emphasis was on learning skills which could be turned into jobs after graduation. Want to be a pilot? . .. How about an auto mechanic?? or a broadcaster?? The COC may be for you. The Saginaw High TIMES once again proved why it is number one at SHS in ۰76-77. All areas were expanded including the number of pages, number of issues and the amount of advertising. Under the fine leadership of Editor-in-chief, Larry Owens, the TIMES did very well at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association's annual conference at CMU. Owens was picked as one of the top 24 high school journalists in the state adding to his many accomplishments. Anthony Joseph and Anthony Chambers exerted great amounts of time and energy along with an involved staff to make the TIMES a worthy publication for SHS. Who will every forget those nights and Saturdays and even Sundays slaving over the copy and production under the direction of adviser Mr. Patsy Procuro. The TIMES also participated in many social and school projects, ending the year with the first annual TIMES banquet. Dinner and awards ended the '77-78 TIMES year but already plans are in the fire for next year's editions.
