1 (۳ In 1976 Saginaw High's Homecoming was bigger and better than ever which captured the spirit of the year. A pep rally was held the day of the game and Queen Gillie and her court of Saginaw High's loveliest were presented along with the football team. Helen of Troy and her court were crowned at the Homecoming football game that evening. Also at the half- time ceremonies, a large parade included floats from each class, a queen's float, and also floats from many clubs and local organizations. Not dampening the spirit of the occassion, the Trojan fans took the loss to Flint Central in stride. The evening was capped by a dance also in honor of the Queen and her lovely court.

A Xi Ms. Gillie Haynes 1976 Homecoming Queen This year’s Queen was Saginaw High’s talented and lovely poet Ms. Gillie Haynes. In her court, and no less lovely were First Runner-up Alice Alford, Second Runner-up Peggy Lawrence, Third Runner-up Rosie Coronado, and Fourth Runner-up Trudy Simmet. New this year was a presentation ceremony to the parents and the community held Tuesday nite before Homecoming. The competition was tough and a total of 27 girls tried for the coveted honor. The Senior class chose the five finalists and the final voting was done by the entire student body. The court was escorted by chosen members of the ’76 football squad. They were Anthony Williams, escorting Ms. Haynes; Vernon Donalds, escorting Ms. Alford; LaRosa Brown, escorting Ms. Lawrence; Mario Garcia, escorting Ms. Coronado; and Eddie Huerta, escorting Ms. Simmet. Both the Coronation and the Homecoming parade were formal affairs for the court. TOP RIGHT: Fourth runner up Trudy Simmet and her escort Eddie Huerta.
