The Homecoming Dance really proved to be a “Special Occasion” as it drew some 400 students. The Student Council feels that student participation is essential. To promote this, a talent show was staged. It was acclaimed a success by all. A | new addition this year was the student exchange program between Ë | Saginaw High and Arthur Hill. For his fine play throughout the season, Co-Captain Charlie Markey was chosen to the first team All-State by the UPI and AP, first team Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, first team Saginaw Valley, first team WSAM and first team Saginaw News. Charlie was awarded the H. S. Salsinger Award which denotes the top scholastic football player in the state. Charlie also received Honorable Mention on the All-American team by the Scholastic Coach Magazine. Ernest Baty was awarded for his hard work by an Honorable mention in Saginaw Val- ley and first team WSAM. Carl Ruth was chosen to the first team Saginaw Valley, first team WSAM, and d first team Saginaw News. A Gordon Rierre was awarded with an honor- able mention in Saginaw Valley and first team WSAM.
