world war II memorial scholarship 4 PRINCIPAL S. H. LYTTLE awards the 51,000 World War ll Memoricl Enclowmenl sc ship to CHARLES RANK, Commencement night. halcir- World W' ar I1 Alumni Memorial scholarships are awarded to the honor, and in memory of, 61 Saginaw alumni who lost their lives in World War Il. There are four scholarships, each one good for four years. One scholarship is awarded annually, and memorializes one-fourth of the alumni who were lost in the war. This Memorial scholarship is a gift that has been made possible because alumni and friends have given to our war memorial a total of over 830,000 to provide an endowment which earns the money for the scholarships. Thus, the prin- cipa1 amount works forever to supply the scholar- ships. The names of these fine young men mem- crialized in the 1948 scholarship were: Henry Sveda '32 Edward Bender '36 Wallace D. Nichol '39 Maxwell M. Smith '43 William Ditz '38 Keith Montross '30 Edward Noyes '39 Bernard Trombley 39 Charles Ulman '38 jack Spencer '41 Frank B. Kerrigan '43 William B. Kenel '39 Ramon Spiekerman '43 Albert W. Harms '38 Doran H. Goldfarb '43 These men have gone, but their influence will live on in the inspiration coming from these awards. These scholarships are based upon gcod character, scholarship, and participation in school activities. The 1948, 81,000 award went to CHARLES RANK.
