In the first period the Bulldogs battled in Eagle territory but were held scoreless. With the second period the Eagles showed their life by bringing the ball in Blue and White territory with a power drive, but the Eagles hit a stone wall and the half ended in a scoreless t ie. FIRST VETERAN ENROLLS Harlon Norman. the first vet- eran of World VVar II to resume his studies in Safford High School. enrolled the fifth of November. After having served cigh' months in the Asiatic Pacific. hc was returned to the United States and received his honorable ds- charge last Octob.r from Camp Pickett. Virginia. He wears four ribbons. one ol' which is the Soldiers' Medal. Welcome back to school. llarlon half the Eagles kicked off to the Bulldogs. In a beautifully execut- ed double-reverse. Clonts took the ball. reversed to Montoya, who again reversed to Bingham who ran sixty yards for the first scorn of the game. A pass to Bingham failed for the extra point. Later in the third quarter the Bulldog Eleven showed their strength by an unstoppable drive from which Clonts crossed thc score stripe for a 12-0 lead on the Eagles, Han- cock's try for the conversion fail- ed. In the final quarter the Eagle: opened up with a passing attack in mid-field. A long pass from Woods to Smith paid off for the Green and White team. With a good conversion by Woods the score moved up to 12-7. The Bull- dogs then took possession of the ball and in the remaining four minutes they reached the Eagle ten yard line in time for the final whistle. Hancock and Clonts were oi- fensive spcarheads for the Blue and White attack. while Stewart and Nielson were defensive stand- outs. Woods and Smith sparked the Eagle squad. while Curtis. center. was outstanding in dc- fensive line play.
