Much to the distress of the Saf- lord High boys, the girls are lead- ing I8 to ll. The one honor roll, however, is equally divided between them with Jo Anne Mitchell and Rich- ard Williams holding straight one honors. Teacher leaves To .loin Husband Eight weeks isn't long. but it's been enough time for me to find out that there are a lot of swell kids here. l've really enjoyed teaching and I'd say l hate to leave but can't. because l'm look- ing forward to housekeeping, so said Mrs. Shepherd as she left last Saturday to join her husband in Davenport, Iowa. Succeeding Mrs. Shepherd, will be Miss Constance Stowell who has been teaching in the junior high this year. With her home in Virginia. Minnesota, Miss Stowell attended Minnesota Schools. receiving her B. A. from Hamline University in St. Paul. Miss Stowell's favorite hobbies are reading, knitting, and she likes all sports. Chocolate cake and It- alian spaghetti head the list of her favorite foods. By working on various school papers she has acquired a great deal of experience in advising a high school newspaper. Before leaving. Mrs. Shepherd asked the reporter to convey her best wishes and she hopes Safford beats Thatcher, Thanksgiving. At the present time, Mrs. Shepherd? plans are indefinite except that she is going to Iowa. Mr. Shepherd is going to Palmer school of Chiropractry in Daven- port, Iowa. Bill Giezl Arrives In States From Duty Bill Gieszl, former coach of Safford High, is now in port at San Francisco navy yard. Second in command of the des- troyer U. S. Reynolds , he ex- pects to be out of the service in six months. since he can not leave until they decommission his ship. Mrs. Dorothy Gieszl has joined him on the coast. Girls' Dance Date Changed to February February 13, 1946. was the date set for the Girls' Dance at the last Student Council meeting which was held on Thursday, October 15. 1945, Previously the date had been set for December 7. 19-15: how- ever the girls voted to have this date changed if possible because it was the first formal dance of the year. Ray Neilson. Senior class president, gave his consent to change it with the Senior Frolic which will now be held on Decem- ber 7. S. H. S.
