Succeeding Mrs. Shepherd, will be Miss Constance Stowell who has been teaching in the junior high this year. With her home in Virginia. Minnesota, Miss Stowell attended Minnesota Schools. receiving her B. A. from Hamline University in St. Paul. Miss Stowell's favorite hobbies are reading, knitting, and she likes all sports. Chocolate cake and It- alian spaghetti head the list of her favorite foods. By working on various school papers she has acquired a great deal of experience in advising a high school newspaper. Before leaving. Mrs. Shepherd asked the reporter to convey her best wishes and she hopes Safford beats Thatcher, Thanksgiving. In White Russia there lived in a certain village a young man c al lc d Mousy. who, though timid, supported his grandmother. One night as Mousy was leaving the saloon, some Russian soldiers stopped him and offered him 9550,- OU0, Cltussian valuei if he would take the sword of one of the sol- diers and place it at a certain grave in the cemetery. He didn't want to, but when they laughed. he finally consented. At midnight he left them and went forth. He came to the grave, plunged the sword in and started to leave. Something held him there: he couldn't leave! The next day the soldiers went to this grave to see if the sword was there---it was. but Mousy was dead. He had stooped down to plunge the sword in the grave and caught his own long cloak by the blade and when he could not lcavc hc died of fright.
