All through the year they're always busy. Whether they're in- volved in a fund-raiser, showing off what they ve learned, or celebrating a success, these students are the Center of Involvement. The club worked diligently to bring you one hour of entertainment. This year's play was Professor Zuchini's Travelling Tales. Members performed theatrical duties such as applying make-up, stage design and acting. The talent these students possess helps them to center on Broadway. Production class works with Mr. Lindsey to produce a weekly news program called Newscan. They also are present at special events like volleyball and basketball games. Basketball 91 RUNNING THE LAST MILE The girls' track team trains daily. This training includes practice drills, running cross-country, various exercises and sprints. All of this is done under the sweltering heat of the Florida sun. Their training pays off when they compete in the high jump, hurdles, running long jumps, sprints and relays. Before coming to S.H.M.S. she taught math to ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders. She also was a guidance counselor and dean at John F. Kennedy Middle School. Although Mrs. Ray- mond is a very busy lady, she does have some spare time for her hobby, playing tennis. 130 Principal MANAGING THE CENTER f? Secretaries 131 CENTER OFISATY The safety of S.H.M.S. students is most impor- tant to our bus drivers. An award is given each month to the bus that exhibits the best behavior. It is an honor to recognize those drivers who dedicate their tives to be the Center of Safety. 132 Transportation KEEPING IT IN ORDER A good maintenance staff is always the center of any school. Our daytime and evening custodial crews help to keep the school clean and equipment running. Our cafeteria ladies spend many hours preparing the lunches for over 1,000 students. Thanks to these ladies we always have a hot school lunch. Custodial and Cafeteria 133 134 Closing Closing 135 RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT Dances are a big part of life at S.H.M.S. From dancing with that special someone to just standing around and hearing the latest gossip. These dances give students the opportunity to feel the rhythm of the night. 136 LIGHTS, CAMERA, LIPSYNC 138 Closing nuu ; Twice a year certain students are selected by a panel of judges to entertain our students. This group of performers sets the stage for Safety Harbor Middle School's very own Lip Sync. These promising entertainers are judged on their own perfor- mance. Students are given a great form of after school entertainment at these special events. STUDENTS LEND A HELPING HAND This year students collected money to give to the United Nations International Childrens Fund tUNICEFt. This money provides nutrition, health care, and educa- tion to the children of the world who need it the most. SHMS students are always willing to lend a helping hand.
