A DAY OF FRIGHT Witches, Bums, Bunnies and Babies were some of the many costumes seen in the halls of SHMS on October 3lst. The annual Halloween Dance sponsored by Future Farmers of America was held from 2:30 to 4:00 in the gym. It was a great success. The costume con- test was categorized strickly by best costume in each grade level. Although there was no category, the fun- niest group of costumes seen around school was the group of boys dressed as girls. Happenings h 47

S.H.M.S. GIVES A HELPING HAND Friday, November 2 was a very special day at SHMS. Students reached out and helped a fellow student's brother. John Novak, a former SHMS student was stricken by a virus that caused him serious heart complications. Doctors determined that a heart transplant was necessary. Literally hundreds of Jackie Novak's friends filled the gym for a fund raising benefit. This outreach to help a fellow student grew to Countryside High School where the students who had performed in the Lip Syncy production volunteered some of their time to give two performances for students at SHMS. Through the generosity of students and teachers over $2000.00 was raised. 46 t Happenings
