They have worked hard this year and are doing their best to help the school. On October 8, our school was the host for the 1982 District I Fall Conference. There were approximately twenty schools from Pennsylvania and New York attending. The main speaker was Dr. Edger Ko-bett, and the workshop topics were Motivation; Sandy Miller and Melanie Kramer, Problem Solving: Chris Beisler and Jill Bedford; Projects and Funds: Tim Ritchie and Aaron Marshall; Student and Faculty Relations: Karen Marvin and Sue Tanner; School Spirit: Marcel Mallory and Dan Schell. The schools voted on a new District Council for the 1983-1984 year. Duane Schlosser was the president of the District Council for 1982-83. They also voted on Meadville High School as the new meeting place for the Spring Conference. We thank the students and faculty for your help in making this a big success. 6 Homecoming 1982 Homecoming 1982 opened with the introduction of the eight candidates for Homecoming queen. They were: Petra Darcangelo, escort Roger Harmon; Karen Eckart, escort Dale Prusia; Laura Hunter, escort David Merritt; Jo-Ann Krupski, escort Chris Evans; Karen Marvin, escort Mark Hope (at game) and Jeff Miller (at assembly); Kathy O'Hara, escort Tim Siple; Kelly Phelan, escort Brian Hasenkopf; and Leslie Styborski, escort Bim Schryver. Friday, October 1, a pep assembly was held to present the queen candidates one last time before the crowning of the queen. The theme, Just Between You and Me”, provided the background music. Junior attendants Katrina Copeland and Adam Hasenkopf presented each candidate with a single rose and charm. That night, during the halftime at the football game, the candidates arrived in antique cars. It was at this time football captain David Merritt crowned Petra Darcangelo our 1982 Homecoming queen. Following the game, a dance was held in honor of Queen Petra and her court. Queen Petra Darcangelo 8 Candidates: K. O’Hara. J. Krupski. P. Darcangelo. K. Eckart. K. Marvin. K. Phelan. L. Hunter. L. The Saegertown Junior High Football team was very successful this year as they posted a perfect record of 6-0. Wins over Cochranton 34-16. Conneaut Lake 14-0. Conneaut Valley 48-6, Lakeview 18-0, Union City 12-0, and Maplewood 35-6 were the outcomes of the games for the squad. While many outstanding individual performances were turned in, it was the continued effort of team play that really keyed the season. This is the second year in a row that the team has gone undefeated, and over a three year period an outstanding 17-1 record has been scored. We would like to thank coaches Mr. Zirkle and Mr. Fisher for a job very well done! 61 Managers: M. Gartner, J. Muma, D. Authier 62 Stats: S. Miller, E. Bim Schryver. Chris Evans and Scott Hans. Starting for the Blue and Gold this year were Seniors Osborne and Schryver. and Juniors Mike Hogan. Joe Lee. and Dwight Dietrich. Other players included juniors Eric Prenatt and Sean O'Hara, and Sophomores Todd Schlosser. Dan Williams. Norm Shaffer. Glen Collins and Mike Monico. The Panthers played well throughout the season. One of the team's most exciting wins came against Maplewood in Tiger country. The game was close all the way but the Panthers posted a 38-37 victory. Next years team should be very impressive boasting 4 returning lettermen. We wish Coaches Dean Henderson and Dick Zirkle the best of luck next year and in the years to follow.
