Hl-Y The object of the Hi-Y is, to quote the club's constitution, to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community, high standards of Christian character. Being a service organization, it does much to stimulate the interest of the completely male membership in social problems, both local and national. The activities and functions of the club are under the direction of Mr. Shorts. TRI-HI-Y The Tri-Hi-Y is the girls chapter of the Hi-Y. In many ways these clubs are very similiar in that they support the same code and strive to reach the same goal. One of its projects is donating a basket of food to a needy family each year at Christmas. JUNIOR AND SENIOR HONOR SOCIETIES The Torch of Learning if the symbol of the Honor Societies, and this is very appropriate for scholarship is one of the most important qualities. The objective of this organization is to honor those people who have excelled in leadership, scholarship, character, and service to the school. By failing in any one of these things a member can be dropped from the organization, but the support of the participants is seldom questioned. Templeton, E. Kantz, R. Mulligan, R. Getty. DRAMA CLUB The 1961-62 Drama Club is the first attempt for several years at a definite organization concerned with the high school theatre. The main objective of this club is to make student direction, make-up, acting familiar to the students. By the production of plays these aspects of drama are made available to the members and student body. Mrs. Bedford is advisor and her talents and leadership were greatly needed. UNITED NATIONS DELEGATION The purpose of the model United Nations is to give the participating student an opportunity to observe the procedures and to understand the many accompanying problems. By attending the meetings, and aspects of public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and diplomatic strategy combined with the association with other students, were all rewarding to the 1961-62 delegates. Mr. Darcangelo has been in charge of the Saegertown group for the last three years. Like the preceding yearly meetings, a trip to Erie will be the main event. ROW I R. Davis B. Olsen Adv.
