Dearest SHA, The words with which Thomas Merton admirably ends his inspiring autobiography, Sei 171 Slorey Mmm- fain, aptly express our sentiments as we reach the final pages of our annual: Sif fini.: libri, non finis tl1ldl'fl'71lli.l The book is finished but not the quest! Ours has been the sweet duty of tendering you the homage of all your alumnae and student body upon the memorable occasion of your golden jubilee of foundation. XVe have endeavored to accomplish it humbly and sincerely, realizing full well that we could never adequately praise or thank you. lf our desires could have been fulfilled, how gladly would we have eulogized in glowing terms the self- sacrificing band of eleven pioneer Sisters who were your founders! With what Hlial pride would we have commented at length upon the Christlike example of beloved Ma Mere. With what joy would we have honored all who have lived and labored hereg with what gratitude would we have paid tribute to all who love and serve you still! Your noble spirit and lofty ideals would have been commended, your educational system laudedg your efforts at inculcating Christian principles hailed as a service to God and fellowmen. The beauty of your campus would have elicited a song of praiseg the value of your preparation for life in troubled times would have evoked a promise of lasting thankfulness. Your eventful historv would have been told with charming anecdote and interesting detail. But all this was beyond our scope! Although panegvrics were not ours to pen, a brief and heartfelt tribute we can and will pay. As the vears roll along, the words of our Alma Mater and of our Class Song-so fittinsrlv embodied in the paees of this vearbook-will re-echo in our hearts, recalling your challenge: Tiff Irv mv shiril! Slam! by my fwrinrifrlexf EVI'1lIhIif'YHII mv feafl1imy! Loyally we will answer: With all our hearts we pledge you our best! In lives worthy of you we will dailv prove our szrateful love! Until we come home to the Sacred Hearts von have taught us to honor, we will be striving to fulfill that Quest. Privileged members of your Golden lubilee Class. we bid you a fond Aloha in this parting paean and praver: The Lord has made you an instrument of His peace: Where there might have been hatred, you have brought loveg Where there might have been wrong, you have brought forgivenessg Where there has been discord, you have brought harmony, Where there has been error, you have brought truth: Where there has been doubt, you have brought faithg Where there have been shadows, you have brought lightg Where there has been sadness, you have brought joy. As you have striven to comfort, may you be com- fortedg As you have tried to understand, may you be under- stoodg Ax you l7dl'Cl01'f'l1', may you be loved: As you have given, so may you rerei1'1'.' May the Lord bless you and keep you! May He turn His countenance to you and grant you now and always His choicest graces! BELCVED ALMA MATER, FAREWELL!
