Four former students of our dear Alma Mater receive the habit of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in a Vesture Ceremony at Sacred Hearts Convent. Paulie Ann Keliikoa fsister Paulie Annj , La Verne Ventura fSister W'illiam Maryj , plane Leandro QSister jane Francesj, and Loretta Lake fSister Charlene! very solemnly pronounce their resolutions. A beau- tiful and impressive ceremony touches the hearts of all attend- Ing. Despite a bit of wind and rain, the seniors start off for their last picnic together at Kailua. Many memories-singing, danc- ing, swimming, dunking, and much more-will be recalled when these mighty seniors turn old and gray. Mass is offered at 8 a.m. in our chapel on Ash Wednesday and at 12:30 the students receive blessed ashes. The newly received Noviees visit their Alma Mater on the first Friday in Lent. A lot of oo's and ah's', come from under- classmen. The Grade School music recital is marvelous-the talent of our young musicians offers hope for the future. The first Chemistry demonstration for the Senior Academics is received very cordially! Tubes, burners, flasks-all these and more were ably explained by Sister Mary Rose. How lovely! How marvelous! How exciting! It's XVashing- ton's birthday, this year called President's Dayg we all help him celebrate by having a holiday! The second graders hurry fo chapel fo receive Yheur ashes. Ashes for big and small Mercedes Cenubida and BeHy Lou Hay seem enioy fhe many fascinafing sighfs of our redecoraled chemisiry lab. Alon with 61 5011 The eightieth birthday of our Holy lfatherl SHA'ers join the world-wide commemoration of this day, March 2. First Friday coincides with the occasion and the student body turns out in white dress uniforms. Numerous projects, the results of intense research by SHA'ers. are exhibited in our library. The Hawaiian Club enjoys its first lecture meeting with guest speaker Mr. Thomas Maunupau wonderfully and hu- morously explaining tales of old Hawaii. Mahalo, Mr. Mau- nupau!! Basketball is again in full swing and it looks as though the teams are well matched and raring to go. The Junior Red Cross linrollment llriye takes place and the student body enjoys the -IRC film, Lending a Helping Handf, Ono-ono sweet bread makes its appearance on SHA campus. Nly, these Senior Scouts are eager beavers! Mighty Seniors don saddle oxfords and white socks for their forum. An interesting topic, Remote Preparation for Marriage, is enjoyed by all. The Audion 'Staff has its banquet on St. Patrick's Day. The luck o' the Irish is with 'emI --they enjoy turkey with all the trimmings! lfirst Mass is offered on the new marble altar on Pas- sion Suntlay.
