HUI ANO BIAOLI For the many lovers of nature SHA has its own nature club better known as the Hui Ano Nlaoli or the Biology Club. Composed of sophomore academic stu- dents, this organization is now in its eleventh year. Our young biologists experienced an especially eventful year. With growing interest they watched the remodelling of their biology laboratory and in Octo- ber they were the proud hostesses of an open house for the rest of the high school. They felt justifiably proud of their newly painted walls, attractive displays, and interesting exhibits. During the year. these sophies undertook various projects of biological interest-scientihc discussions. frequent excursions, and the preparation of eye- catching rock gardens for the fair. Because of the challenging problems and the many experiments. there's never a dull moment during Biology period. This is one subject the sophomores really take to mindf' Elizabeth Chong and Grace Tom sfudying fhe cross section of a stem. 0 ,,,, , Consclenhous llbraruans performnng fhenr many duhes LEFT TO RIGHT Priscilla Brown Lorraine Lu e Annelre Kau Asslsfanf Lubrarean Beairlce Tanaka Head Lnbraruan LIBRARIANS The Llbrlry st1fl 19 one of SHA s most serxleezble unlts Proudmg students wnth good wholesome readme nmtter 1nd oflermg x almble resmreh md reference m1ter11l, the hbrary proves to be an xndlspenslble lsset to SHA ers W 1th ICIIYP and eonsclentlous Beatrxce T1!1lli1 st the helm, 1 well truned eruw keeps SHA s hbrlrx functnonlng CmClCI'1tlY Mendlm, incl stncklng books eheekmg xuthdrm lls mel returns mamtalnmg order 'mel silence sum up the typ1C1l duly routlne of a llbr run fo sueeessfullv cirry out this routlne the llbmrnn must possess qenerosltx 1nd forbelrlnee The wxllmgness xuth xx hleh she saerxhces sp rre mme oroves th If she hls understood her responslbnlltw md h1s If the same txme mule 1 X 1lu1ble eontrlbutlon to her 1lm1 mstter To ull our hbrlrmns we extend our smeexe 'tppreeutnon In servmg then' school xx ell these gurls mll llwlys be lmongb SHA s unsung h romes Consflfuhng Hue sfaff of Hue librarians are FIRST ROW leff +o rlghf Linda Lazo Barbara Robello Pairlcna Lopez Ellzaberh Chong Theodora Adorable Mercedes Canubuda Leonhne Cruz Hermallncla Muna Lynn Musselman SECOND ROW Pearl Olrada Esfher Turqueza Muruel Chung Josehna Dommgo Sylvia Lee Carmen Laciaoen Marnna Acdal Jean Goeas Shnrley Lum Chrlshna Aralu THIRD ROW Lorraine Pereura lrus Taga Barbara Mendes Joyce Olrumura Lorraine Frelfas FOURTH ROW Barbara de Cosfa Kafherlne Pa Ana Ilangan Luvumunda Vlllanueva Duane Crawford Carol Kaneko '7'l 'l E ff we A-rife WH i,'d ,QF , 'kv'-v 'G STUDENT MONITORS Mary Paloma Finds monl+or dufy al the Fuffh Avenue gale a bit lonely SHA 9 studtnt monitors lint ont of tht most importmt responsibilities on the tam pus tl11t of muntuning order ind tlistiplxne Bx tnforunx, school rules 1nd reguhtions Lliu luxe Sutttssfullx tstlblished tlitir ums ILllll'5lllIV intl sthool spirit Thur wry importlnt duties intludt ugilmtt at both mm pus tntrmtts muntiinim, ordtr in tiftttrii lines ind Seeing that toke bottleS ire put bitk in their proptr plitts Tlut risks of monitors art not .xlw us pleasant, but nexerthelesi tliest lox ll ind dtptndible studtnts xx illmglx S lLI'lfTtL tlitir lunth periods to perform their tlutits Their htlpful strutts in. glLlTlW ipprttiited bx ffitultx and Studentx W L ire indttd grlttful to oui stutltnt monitors for their prittless Contributions to their ilmi m1ter FIRST ROW leff +o righi EIizabe+h Ragaza Barbara Robinson Phyllis Campbell RayneHe Vucfor Mary Ann Silva Dolores Cadiz SECOND ROW Ber+lia Ho Nola Whang Linda Lazo Cliarloffe Kendall La Verne Huddy Judy Mae Raporo Janice Lum THIRD ROW Sylvia Salva+era Lois Calala 'essie Garcia Jean Verlaio Sarah Ann Wood Ma+hilda Pang Jeaneffe Texeura Mary Paloma Dorofhy Gray Barbara Jean Chong FOURTH ROW Malmda Souza Elaine Lum Mary Brown Pafricla Cortez Danne'f+e Lyman Palrncua Domango Beverly Ann Fernandel Joan Mendonca H S B , pi M 'Wie 'S fa QL. COSTUMES AND CHARACTERS Through the years, SHA's dramatical productions have been entertaining for young and old alike. No matter how simple or how elaborate a play may be, it is always carried on with the grace and dignity it deserves. First of the season's productions, Fatima's Message, was an inspiring skit presented for Reverend Mother on St. Gertrude's day. Next on the agenda was the beautiful Christ- mas pageant and tableau portrayed for the student body during the yuletide season. At Home with Mozartf' a one-act play, was staged by the grammar grade students at their annual music festival. Climaxing the year, was the beautiful and heart-warming story of Joan of Arc in anticipation of Reverend Mother Mary Gertrude's silver jubilee of religious profession. The students who have shared in these presentations will not quickly forget all that has been acquired through the patient and understanding guidance of our dear Sisters.
